Drum and Lyre Competition was held last April 7, 2018 at the Bataan People’s Center.
A total of Nine teams from the different public schools performed their pieces. Wearing their colorful and crisp uniforms, elementary students from all over Bataan showed off their talents with their musical instruments.
Mr. Herbert Vianzon, the vice chairman of Bataan Peninsula Tourism Council Foundation Incorporated, gave the welcoming remarks for this year’s drum and lyre competition.
Along with him, the board of judges was composed of Prof. Jose ‘Joey’ Soliman – a member of the subcommittee on Music in the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. He is also the coordinator of Music Area in the Special Program for the Arts, DepEd, NCAA – Training and Curriculum Writing.
To complete the judges was Mr. Felicito S. Sacsdalan, an accomplished clarinetist and wind orchestra instructor. Currently, he is also the trainor of Jose Jose de Piro Kabataang Orkestra in Dinalupihan.
The winners for the Drum and Lyre Competition are the following: 1st – BEPZ Elementary School (Mariveles) , 2nd – Antonio G. Llamas Elementary School, and 3rd – Balanga Elementary School. The winners received cash prizes, certificates and trophies.
Special awards were given to Most Disciplined Group – Limay Elementary School, Best in Uniform – Antonio G. Llamas Elementary School, and Best Majorettes – Antonio G. Llamas Elementary School.
