Pawikan Festival 2019, a platform to save Pawikan for 14 years.
The Provincial Government of Bataan, the Bataan Peninsula Tourism Council Foundation Inc., in partnership with the Municipality of Morong and the Bantay Pawikan Inc. once again celebrated the annual Pawikan Festival last December 1, 2019. Thousands of visitors from different parts of the country attended this much-awaited festival.
Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri together with his wife Ms. Audrey Zubiri and kids graced the celebration and joined the ceremonial releasing of hatchlings. In his speech in the opening program, he mentioned the importance of conserving and managing marine turtle resources.
Also present in the festival were Governor Albert S. Garcia, 1st and 2nd district representatives: Hon. Geraldine B. Roman and Hon. Jose Enrique Garcia III. To give support to the festival, Municipal Mayors also attended the festival such as Hon. Antonio Joseph R. Inton of Hermosa, Hon. Aida Macalinao of Samal, Hon. Richie Jason David of Limay, Hon. Gila Garcia of Dinalupihan and Hon. Jocelyn Castaneda of Mariveles.
The much-anticipated activities in the festival were the Regional and Provincial Festival Dance Competition. In the Regional Category, Province of Tarlac was hailed as the 1st place, Province of Bataan as 2nd and Province of Zambales as 3rd. While in the Provincial Category, Municipality of Dinalupihan was hailed as the 1st place, Municipality of Limay as 2nd, and Municipality of Mariveles as 3rd.
Alongside these activities are the Walk for a Cause, Zumba, Thanksgiving Mass, Paddle Painting Contest, Sand Sculpture, Body Painting Exhibition, and Environmental Fair and Environmental Forum.
The festival culminated in a live performance from the local bands and performers from Bataan such as Marla, Gil Guevarra, Clay, Geo Loyola, Friends’ Fries, and the MotherCampers.
