Last December 4, 2021, The Provincial Government of Bataan through the Provincial Tourism Office, in cooperation with the Municipality of Morong and the Department of Education conducted the Pawikan Festival 2021 Virtual Celebration via Facebook live.
The Virtual Celebration exhibited the winners in various competitions namely: T-shirt Design, Quiz Bee, Spoken Poetry, Info Video Presentation, Festival Dance Competition, and Info Raffle.
Facebook viewers also witnessed the ceremonial releasing of hatchlings held last December 1, 2021. It was attended by Municipality of Morong Mayor Hon. Cynthia Linao – Estanislao, Dinalupihan Mayor Hon. Maria Angela S. Garcia, and 2nd District Board Member Hon. Romano “Popoy” Del Rosario.
Furthermore, Regional Director of Department of Tourism Region III, Carolina D. Uy, 2nd Disrtrict Representative Hon. Jose Enrique S. Garcia III, and Provincial Governor Hon. Albert S. Garcia gave their inspiring messages to the online viewers.
The President of League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Bataan Chapter, Hon. Maria Angela S. Garcia delivered the Oath of Environmental Protection in the said celebration.
Alongside with the Virtual Celebration, Pawikan Festival Environmental Forum was held last November 25, 2021 via Facebook live. The forum was virtually attended by thousands of students in Bataan.
The spekaers namely, Mr. Carlos Tamayo – Project Director of Curma (Coastal Underwater Resource Management), Ms. Merliza A. Torre – Officer-in-charge of CENRO Bagac, and Ms. Elaine T. Saniel – Sustainable Tourism Advocate, discussed several topics such as Get to know Pawikan and Talks on How to save Pawikan, Pawikan Conservation in Bataan, and Saving our spots.
This year, an all new competition was launched entitled “Pawikan Festival Info Video Presentation” . It was participated in by college students from various colleges and university in Bataan. The competition aimed to disseminate awareness about Pawikan and on how to conserve and protect them through an informative video presentation.
The winners in the Pawikan Festival Competitions are the following:
T-Shirt Design Competition: 1st place - Richard TJ R. Sevilla from the City of Balanga, 2nd Place - Cyruth A. Pasion from the Municipality of Limay, and 3rd Place - Aldrin S. Canlapan from the Municipality of Samal.
Quiz Bee:
Elementary Level - 1st Place - Megumi Gemzon and coach Karen V. Flores, 2nd Place - Zxean Raj Afric P. Morale and coach Analyn C. Bumanlag, 3rd Place - Heidi Annika T. Malibiran and coach Lourdes B. Fabrez.
Junior Highschool Level – 1st Place - Benedict Yambao and coach Georgie Signio, 2nd Place - Jhan Michael B. Banzon and coach Mary Ann A. Pacheco, 3rd Place - Kurbin Ross B.Bunsua and coach Mary Ann A. Pacheco.
Senior Highschool Level – 1st Place - Adriel M. Ebido and coach Mark Angelo C. Austria, 2nd Place - Jennalyn A. Venegas and coach Mark Angelo C. Austria, 3rd Place Reynaldo Quicho and coach Ma Joselita Sanchez.
Spoken Poetry
1st Place - Alliah Francinne Gonzales from the Municipality of Limay, 2nd Place - Rhobie John Tabugan from the Municipality of Pilar, 3rd Place - Kyla Dela Cruz from the Municipality of Orion.
Info Video Competition
1st Place - Pantig, Sir John Percival C. and Victorio, Jastine C. from Eastwoods Professional College of Science and technology - Balanga Campus, 2nd Place - Kristine Angela L. Borreros from Microcity College of Business and Technology, 3rd Place - Kris Gayle Tagapuen and Jeanne Tungol from Philippine Women's University – Balanga.
Festival Dance Competition: 1st Place – Municipality of Limay, 2nd Place – Municipality of Hermosa, and 3rd Place – Municipality of Dinalupihan.
The Provincial Government of Bataan through the Provincial Tourism Office is truly grateful to everyone who supported the Virtual Pawikan Festival 2021. We hope to celebrate the next Pawikan Festival with the presence of everyone.
