    Cultural Tourism Development Workshop

    In celebration of the National Heritage Month, the Department of Tourism – Region III successfully held a three-day Cultural Tourism Development Workshop on May 20-22, 2025 at the Bliss Hotel Dau, Mabalacat City, Pampanga.
    Through collaborative activities and interactive discussions of participants from various tourism sectors in Central Luzon, the workshop highlighted the vital role of Local Government Units in leading cultural tourism efforts, from embracing core principles to crafting sustainable strategies that preserve and promote our rich heritage.

    DOT-III Regional Director Richard G. Daenos addressed the importance of sustainability in the continuing efforts of the participants to develop their cultural tourism products, encouraging them to continue to engage with local communities, to protect the environment, and to safeguard our heritage. He leaves a challenge to the participants to transform marketing to finding meaning, preservation to participation, and policy to a sense of pride.
    The resource speaker, Mr. Billy Ray Malacura, closed with a quote from the late Susan Calo-Medina to invite them to continue to get to know their localities through conversations with the community: “Wag maging dayuhan sa sariling bayan.”

    Buwan ng Pambansang Pamana 2025: Kapitolyo sa kasaysayang pampulitika ng bansa — mga unang nalagakan ng panandang pangkasaysayan

    Sa pagwawakas ng Buwan ng Pambansang Pamana, tampok sa seryeng ito ang mga unang Kapitolyo ng mga lalawigan na kinilala ng Pambansang Komisyong Pangkasaysayan ng Pilipinas (NHCP) sa pamamagitan ng mga panandang pangkasaysayan o pahayag bilang Pambansang Palatandaang Makasaysayan. Sa lente ng kasaysayang pampulitika, ang mga Kapitolyo ay hindi lamang gusali kundi espasyo ng pamumuno at kapangyarihan, na nagsilbing sentro ng kolonyal, rebolusyonaryo, at republikang pamahalaan sa mga lalawigan.

    Mula sa panunungkulan ng mga alkalde mayor, gobernador sibil, at mga lider ng rebolusyon, hanggang sa muling pagtatatag ng demokrasya pagkatapos ng digmaan—ang mga istrukturang ito ay tahimik na saksi sa mahahalagang yugto ng pamahalaang Pilipino.
    Ang mga larawang tampok sa serye na ito ay nagpapakita ng sampung makasaysayang gusaling Kapitolyo (o probisyunaryo) na unang kinilala ng Komisyon bilang mahalagang bahagi ng kasaysayang pampamahalaan ng bansa.

    1. Kapitolyo ng Bataan

    Orihinal na itinayo bilang Casa Real ng Bataan sa ilalim ni Alcalde Mayor Domingo de Goyenchea mula 1792 hanggang 1794. Nasira ito sa mga lindol noong 1852 at 1854, at isinailalim sa mga pagsasaayos noong 1854, 1869, 1880, at 1885. Mula Mayo 31, 1898 hanggang Enero 1900, nagsilbi itong punong-tanggapan ng Rebolusyonaryong Pamahalaan ng Bataan. Mula 1903 hanggang 1906, naging tahanan din ito ng Mataas na Paaralang Panlalawigan.

    2. Kapitolyo ng Zambales

    Itinayo ng Pamahalaang Kolonyal ng Espanya mula 1875 hanggang 1878, ang gusali ay orihinal na ginamit bilang Panlalawigang Piitan noong panahon ng mga Kastila. Noong 1899, ito ay naging Pangkalahatang Himpilan ng Rebolusyonaryong Pamahalaan ng Zambales. Matapos ang muling pagsasaayos ng harapan ng gusali noong 1939, nagsilbi na itong opisyal na Kapitolyo ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Zambales.

    3. Price Mansion, Tacloban

    Itinayo noong 1910, ang gusali ay dating pag-aari ni G. Walter S. Price at ng kanyang asawa. Sa panahon ng Kampanya sa Pilipinas ng Allied Forces noong Ikalawang Digmaang Pandaigdig, ito ay pansamantalang ginamit bilang Kapitolyo ng Philippine Commonwealth mula Oktubre 20 hanggang 23, 1944. Naiwasan ni Heneral Douglas MacArthur ang matinding pinsala nang tamaan ng bombang Hapon ang bubong ng silid na kanyang tinutuluyan noong Oktubre 20, 1944.

    4. Kapitolyo ng Leyte

    Ang Panlalawigang Kapitolyo ng Leyte ang nagsilbing punong tanggapan ng Pamahalaang Komonwelt ng Pilipinas mula Oktubre 23, 1944 hanggang Pebrero 27, 1945. Noong Oktubre 23, 1944, nanumpa si dating Pangalawang Pangulo Sergio Osmeña bilang Pangulo ng Philippine Commonwealth sa hagdanan ng gusali sa harap ni Heneral Douglas MacArthur, na sinaksihan ng mga miyembro ng Gabinete, puwersa ng Allied Forces, at mga bagong layang Pilipino.

    5. Kapitolyo ng Quezon (Tayabas)

    Itinayo bilang Kapitolyo ng Tayabas noong 1908 sa lupang ipinagkaloob ni Abogado Filemon E. Perez. Ginawang konkreto ang gusali alinsunod sa Public Act No. 1637. Pinalawak ito mula 1930 hanggang 1935 sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Gobernador Maximo Rodriguez. Nasira ang gusali noong Ikalawang Digmaang Pandaigdig at naipagawa muli sa bisa ng Tydings Act noong Abril 30, 1946. Sa bisa ng Republic Act No. 14, pinangalanan itong Quezon Provincial Capitol noong Setyembre 7, 1946.

    6. Kapitolyo ng Negros Occidental

    Ang orihinal na Kapitolyo ng Negros Occidental ay nasa lumang bahay na ipinagkaloob ni Jose Ruiz de Luzuriaga sa kanto ng Daang Luzuriaga at Araneta. Ang kasalukuyang gusali ay dinisenyo ni Arkitekto Juan Arellano noong 1927 at natapos noong 1933 sa ilalim ni Gobernador Jose Locsin. Itinuturing itong mahalagang halimbawa ng gusaling pampamahalaan at arkitektura noong unang bahagi ng ika-20 siglo sa panahon ng mga Amerikano. Ipinahayag itong Pambansang Palatandaang Makasaysayan noong Hulyo 19, 2004.

    7. Kapitolyo ng Cebu

    Ang dating Kapitolyo ng Cebu ay matatagpuan sa harap ng kasalukuyang Plaza Independencia. Nasakop ito ng mga rebolusyonaryong Pilipino noong 1898 at ng mga puwersang Amerikano noong 1899. Ang kasalukuyang gusali ay dinisenyo ni Juan Arellano at itinayo noong Disyembre 1936. Pinasinayaan ito ni Pangulong Manuel L. Quezon noong Hunyo 14, 1938. Isang halimbawa ito ng gusaling pampamahalaan mula sa panahon ng Komonwelt. Idineklara itong Pambansang Palatandaang Pangkasaysayan noong Hunyo 9, 2008.

    8. Casa Real ng Iloilo

    Ang Casa Real ng Iloilo ay itinayo noong panahon ng mga Kastila, yari sa kahoy at bato. Naging Kapitolyo ito nang maitatag ang Pamahalaang Sibil ng Iloilo noong Abril 11, 1901, sa ilalim ni Gobernador Martin T. Delgado (1901–1904). Ginamit ito ng mga Hapones mula 1942 hanggang 1945. Naayos ang ilang bahagi ng gusali noong dekada 1960. Nasunog ito noong Nobyembre 4, 1998 at muling naipagawa. Mula 1901 hanggang 2001, naging sentro ito ng pamahalaang panlalawigan ng Iloilo.

    9. Kapitolyo ng Ilocos Norte

    Ang Kapitolyo ng Ilocos Norte ay dinisenyo ni Ralph Harrington Doane at itinayo mula 1917 hanggang 1925 sa pangangasiwa nina Jose Paez at Tomas Mapua. Noong Disyembre 12, 1941, dumating ang mga Hapones sa Laoag, dahilan upang lumikas si Gobernador Roque Ablan at ituloy ang pamahalaan sa kabundukan ng Maananteng, Solsona. Pinalaya ang Laoag ng 15th Infantry Regiment ng United States Army Forces in the Philippines–Northern Luzon noong Pebrero 13, 1945. Isinaayos ang gusali noong 1957 at pinasinayaan ito ni Pangulong Carlos P. Garcia noong Disyembre 27, 1958. Inilagay ang marker bilang bahagi ng ika-200 anibersaryo ng Ilocos Norte (1818–2018).

    10. Kapitolyo ng Sorsogon

    Noong 1902, ang tahanan ng angkang De Vera ang nagsilbing pansamantalang opisina ni Gobernador Bernardino Monreal. Itinayo ang Kapitolyo ng Sorsogon mula 1915 hanggang 1917 sa ilalim ni Gobernador Victor Eco, kasabay ng gusaling hukuman at panlalawigang piitan. Pinamahalaan ito nina Arkitekto George Fenhagen at Ralph H. Doane.

    Sa ating mga kababayan na hinintay ang pagbabalik ng mga biyahe ng ferry boat, ikinagagalak ko pong ibalita sa inyo na magbabalik na ang ating 1Bataan Integrated Transport System Inc. simula sa 𝗶𝗸𝗮-𝟭𝟯 𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝘆𝗼.

    Ang mga terminal ng ating ferry boat ay matatagpuan sa mga sumusunod:

    📍𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹: Capinpin Seaport, Puting Buhangin, Orion, Bataan

    Sa loob lamang ng isa’t kalahating oras (one way trip), maaari nang makarating sa Maynila at makabalik sa Bataan.

    Kung kayo po ay mag book online mula 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟯 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟯𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, makaka avail po kayo ng promo fare sa halagang ₱𝟮𝟰𝟵 (𝗼𝗻𝗲-𝘄𝗮𝘆)– ito po ay 50% discounted sa regular rate na P499.

    Paalala lamang po na ang online booking cut-off ng walk-in passengers ay isang oras bago ang pag-alis ng ferry at mag-aapply na ang regular rate na P499 sa mga walang online booking.
